A law enforcement agency was breached recently in an undetected attack. The hacker, who was unhappy about recent work by the agency, published their entire employee roster with home addresses, phone numbers and other personal details.
The details were published on the Tor hidden services (darknet). Since we monitor the darknet constantly and aggressively – we spotted the database almost as soon as it was put up.
The danger was severe and immediate, so we contacted the affected agency – who then took action. They were able to close the security hole and alert the affected parties before the story came to light in the media.
A large media conglomerate was using a hotel in a middle eastern country, when our Intelliagg™ service picked up chatter on known Jihadist forums around the security of the hotel. The chat specifically identified the location’s vulnerability to blast and its popularity with journalists.
That represented a clear threat in the making. Intelliagg™ warned the company, and they subsequently moved their people to more protected accommodation.
Some time later, there was a combined gun and bomb attack on the original hotel, which killed several people.
A large retail company had constant problems with counterfeit products being sold online. As soon as they dealt with one fraudulent product site, another one popped up to take its place.
Consumers were buying poor-quality goods, and they often didn’t find out that the product was fake until it failed and they called the company. Consumer confidence was eroding.
Our Intelliagg™ service immediately enabled the company to speed up the detection of fake product sites dramatically. The company no longer had to wait until customers started contacting them with problems – they knew right away when a new site emerged. This enabled their legal department to issue site take downs extremely quickly.
The result has been far fewer customers buying or even seeing fake goods, far fewer complaints and a return of confidence in the brand.
The home address of an executive from a Fortune 500 conglomerate was leaked online. It appeared on a forum for people planning to stage a protest and potentially violent action against the executive and their family. This triggered an alert by Intelliagg’s systems.
One of our analysts quickly reviewed it and informed the executive’s protection team in time to avoid the protestors’ action. The EP team subsequently alerted law enforcement to provide better protection, discouraging violence at the executive’s home.
